Students would select this option ONLY if they have received notification (usually in the form of a letter) from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) directing them to attend a 4-hour Basic Driver Improvement (BDI) course.

Students typically select this option when they have contacted their insurance provider and received authorization to voluntarily attend a 4-hour insurance discount course for the purpose of obtaining a discount of up to 10% off their automobile insurance premium.

(ADI)
 
Any driver whose license has been suspended or revoked must sign up for the 12-hour Advanced Driver Improvement course before he or she can obtain a hardship license from the Florida DHSMV. This course can also be taken by anyone who has been ordered by a judge to complete a 12-hour ADI course.

(Insurance Discount over 55 years of age)
 
Persons who are at least 55 years of age and hold a valid Florida driver's license are eligible for a mandatory 10 percent discount on auto insurance premiums for three years by completing this course pursuant to Section 627.0652, Florida Statutes.
$39.95 Learner's Permit (First Time Drivers) Course
 
Persons who have never held a regular driver license in any state must complete a Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education course before applying for a learner's permit. This course is not intended to address the requirements of a court for point reduction/ticket dismissal.
