Certificate of Completion

After you finish your online defensive driving course, we will send you a certificate of completion to turn in to the Texas traffic court and / or your Texas auto insurer. Since we are located in Texas, our certificates typically arrive much faster than certificates sent by companies located in other states.

There is no charge for standard USPS certificate delivery. Our express delivery options are very reasonable. You will see these when you sign up for the course, or you can call DTA TOLL FREE at 1-800-558-9887 to order express delivery.

"Court" Certificate Instructions

You will receive a two part certificate when you complete the course. The top part is labeled court. This copy of the certificate should be turned in to the traffic court that you must report to as part of your deferred adjudication (ticket dismissal).

Simply follow the instructions you received from the court regarding mailing or hand delivery. Be sure to turn your certificate in before your due date or you might not receive credit for attending the course. Texas traffic courts place this responsibility on the student, not on the defensive driving school.

"Insurance" Certificate Instructions

The bottom part of your certificate is labeled insurance. (If you selected "Insurance" as your reason for taking this class, you will only receive an insurance certificate, not a two-part certificate.)

You should have already checked with your auto insurer to be sure you will receive credit for attending the course. (Some drivers might not be eligible because of their driving record or other reasons.) Once you have verified with your auto insurer that you are to receive a discount for taking the course, you can follow their instructions to turn in the driving safety course certificate.

Texas insurance discounts can be up to 10%. This DTA online defensive driving course IS approved by the Texas State Board of Insurance for insurance reduction purposes.
