Better Dutchess Drivers proudly offers Driver Training Associates' Internet Point Insurance Reduction Course. This online defensive driving program provides New York drivers with a 10% insurance reduction as well as reduction of up to 4 points on their driving record.

How the Insurance Discount Works

Most drivers who take our online defensive driving course do so to get the 10% auto insurance reduction mandated by New York law. Insurers are required to grant this auto insurance discount to an eligible driver who has successfully completed a DMV approved 6-hour accident prevention course.

Once you complete the driver improvement course, you will receive a Completion Certificate to turn in to your auto insurance provider. Once this certificate is received and processed, a 10% discount will be applied to your New York auto insurance premium.

Your auto insurance reduction will stay in effect for three years and can be renewed after the initial 3-year period has expired. The insurance reduction will be applied to your liability, collision, and no-fault insurance premiums.

How Point Reduction Works

After you successfully complete the course, our course sponsor, DTA, will notify the New York DMV of your completion. You do not have to turn anything in to the DMV. A notice will then be entered on your driving record, and the DMV computer will automatically reduce your active point total by up to four points.
